Natural Teething Remedies for Babies

Teething is difficult for both the baby and parents. It usually results in less sleep for everyone when it hits. Oh and it can hit hard or it can barely affect your Baby. And then out pops a tooth one day (lucky parents!). We don’t like to give our son drugs so we opted for natural teething remedies as much as possible.

If you are unsure if your baby is teething check out my blog post of symptoms of a teething baby.

Natural Teething Remedies

Distracting your Baby can be used with all the below remedies. Keeping your Baby occupied with plenty of new experiences. Toys are a great way to help them (and you!) get through their pain and discomfort

Teething toys such as these silicone fruit teethers are great. These are especially good because they are easy to grasp and have fun colors and shapes. TIP: Put these in the freezer for extra relief.

A simple and effective remedy is putting some cold water on a washcloth or putting water on a washcloth and putting it in the freezer then letting your Baby chew on it. You can also use burp cloths as you probably already have an abundance if your baby thought spitting up was a sport like mine did.

A gentle massaging of the gums can also help. This can be accompanied by some of the other remedies.

This fresh fruit and food teether is by far one of the favorites for when Baby is eating solids, which is usually around the same age as they start getting teeth. Of course this can vary, but typically teething begins around 6 months though it can be as early as 4 months. You put the teether in the freezer with some frozen fruit. We used mango because frozen mango chunks fit nicely in the silicone space, or frozen blueberries because they are a favorite and really healthy (just be careful of stains). There is also frozen pineapple, banana, strawberries… etc. It doesn’t have to be fruit either, anything your baby likes will do just fine. Or for something else Baby will like you can try freezing milk in ice cube trays. You can make a milk-sicle by freezing a pacifier with the milk, or cut the milk into cubes to place in the fruit teether.

It is tough seeing your little one in pain, so I hope this helps.
